SCOPE
of Micro-Fluidization
|
January 2007
|
|
|
Welcome to our new subscribers! Micro-Mail SCOPE is
our application focused newsletter which reports the
broad "Scope" of possibilities for Micro- Fluidization.
Each month we send you successful scenarios where
better methods of applying fluids and lubricants
result in less consumption and achieve overall
manufacturing performance improvements.
When questions or concerns arise about how well
Micro-Fluidization will work in a specific application,
contact the UNIST office or the local representative
about ordering a trial system for evaluation. UNIST
provides demonstration units to pre-approved
companies. The units can be purchased or returned
after 30 days.
Today's newsletter contains some examples of the
positive response we've had to our trial program.

Cordially, Larry

Less Fluid, Cooler Part Temperatures
74K Added to Bottom Line
Following is a UNIST distributor's actual description of
a 30 day Uni-Roller evaluation and the results that
followed.
"The customerÕs plant was a mess. Fluid everywhere
but on the part. The customer tried one Roller to
test under 30 day guaranteed trial. They were
skeptical at first, especially the tooling guys who
normally believe more fluid is better. The main
element of proof was temperature readings of the
working pieces were actually reduced several
degrees using the roller only. As heat is ultimately
the culprit to tool wear the tool room was satisfied.
It was all downhill from there."
Results:
Fluid consumption was reduced
25%. The
annualized dollar amount saved was $51,480.00.
Waste disposal was reduced by
50%. The
annualized dollar amount saved was $18,884.00.
Floor cleaner was reduced by
20%.
Estimated annualized cost savings was $3960.00
Total Hard Dollar Savings -
$74,324.00
Fewer Dermatitis Issues.
Fewer Respiratory Issues
Maintenance of the presses and
press room
dramatically reduced due to the elimination of
the ÒfogÓ of lubricant, landing on all surfaces and
impregnating electrical and mechanical components.
Housekeeping dramatically
improved.
Customer to show improvements
as part of
their ISO 14001 obligations.

Successful Portable Typhoon Trials
25 Hours of Use, 4.5 Ounces of Lube
Following are two e-mails describing successful
evaluations of Micro-Fluidization in aerospace
manufacturing - the first is from the US, the second
from the UK.
"Good morning Gentlemen,
We were able this past week to implement your
cutting tool lubrication system on two similar but
different assemblies,and with great success.
--The cutting tools stayed sharper longer.
--Clean up was next to nothing.
--Final hole diameter was well within tolerance
specified.
--The system is totally user friendly.
--There was no down time due to clogging of the
coolant lines.
--In almost four days of operation (approx 25 hr.) we
used only 4.5 oz of Coolube
Everyone who was involved was impressed with how
well it performed. I would like to thank you for the
loaner system."
"Tests on the Unist Thru -the -Tool systems have
moved on since my last communication with you. The
units have finally received their COSHH (Health And
Safety Standard) assessments and were found to be
10 times below legal requirements on atmospheric
misting, when the optimum settings on oil volume and
air pressures were evaluated. This has meant that
one unit 85-4050-5A has actually made it on to the
jig and that the operators have finally had sight of
this equipment. Early responses are good in that the
operators find it easy to use and it is much cleaner
than using flood coolant."

Saw Coolubricator Demo
Blade Life Doubled
Sawing is one of the most common applications
where a trial is requested. A UNIST representative in
the Southwest sent in the following description of a
company in his territory.
"During a small show, our saw Coolubricator caught
the attention of their maintenance supervisor for the
foundry area who requested a demo. The challenge
was to cut a 7Ó diameter solid bar steel. In less than
a week they already called amazed with our unit and
Coolube 2210EP. They had been changing saw
blades every 24 hours before and with our
Coolubricator they were using two blades per week.
They have recommended us to many other facilities."
